FULTON -- After sweeping through the doubles point with Kristina Dimitrijevic and Mireira Simon Sanchez at the two, barely outpacing Marta Calvo Larraz and Hanna Lindeboom at the one in 6-2 wins, William Woods (5-6) rolled to a 5-2 victory over Midland University (7-4) on Sunday.

Dimitrijevic opened and closed the match, scoring for Woods and clinching the final result at five singles.

"We got the job done, and we...have some things to work on," William Woods tennis coach Chance Joost said in a release. "We're very young, so we just need to learn how to finish off matches and win the ones we are supposed to (do) the way we're supposed to. Overall, it was a good day, and we will continue to press forward with two more matches this week. This (week) is where we separate ourselves from the rest of the pack."

The Owls needed just 34 minutes to claim the doubles point, but Lena Greefs and Marcelina Kotylak held on for a 7-5 win over Kissmel Cedano and Grace Felder to sweep the point.

Lindeboom quickly dispatched her opponent at the one-line, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Arianna Lumanog in just 49 minutes. Twenty minutes later, Greefs gave Woods a 3-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Felder at the three-line, turning the court over to Kotylak and Macee Thompson for their six-singles match.

Even as Midland tried to mount a comeback at the two and four singles, the karma from Lindeboom's win was still hanging out on court one. Dimitrijevic needed just 70 minutes to claim the victory for William Woods. The No. 5 player for WWU earned a 6-4, 6-1 win over Jenna Carle.

The Owls welcome Ottawa University and former AMC foe Freed-Hardeman to campus on Thursday and Friday.
