EUGENE -- Travis Allen shot a season-low 8-over 80 for New Bloomfield boys golf, and North Callaway placed sixth out of 16 scoring teams in the Russellville Tournament Wednesday at Redfield Golf Course.

The Thunderbirds signed for a 75-over 363, the Wildcats placed 10th with a 386 and South Callaway didn't have the required four golfers for a team score. The top four scores for each team counted toward its tally.

California topped the leaderboard with an impressive 290, host Eugene placed second with a 329 and a second Show-Me Conference team joined the top three: Linn placed third with a 356.

Allen, a Central Methodist men's golf commit, recorded the best round of the 11 Callaway County competitors at the 18-hole event.

Freshman Anthony Russell joined senior Allen as the only Callaway County golfer to break 90, guiding North Callaway with an 82. Allen tied for 10th, and Russell took 13th.

Hunter Smith, the lone Bulldog participant, carded a 93.

California tallied two of the top three individual finishes: Will Boyd made it a team/individual tournament title sweep for the Pintos, shooting a 67, and teammate Ayden Howard posted a 71 to tie for second.

Linn's Jett Maassen joined Howard in second with a 71.

Following Russell, North Callaway's Tyler Huddleston carded a 90, Clayton Moore a 94, Vincent Houchins a 97 and Johnny Brown a 104.

After Allen, New Bloomfield's Donovan Ostberg shot a 97, Brennan Fessler a 99, Ethan Hall a 110 and Payden Nagel a 117.

New Bloomfield competes in its second event in as many days. It faces host Moberly and Marceline in the Moberly Tri at 4 p.m. today at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Moberly.

South Callaway has another 18-hole tournament, teeing off in the Versailles Invitational at 9 a.m. next Wednesday at Rolling Hills Country Club in Versailles.

North Callaway returns to the greens for the Southern Boone Quad against the host Eagles, Fatima and Jefferson City at 4 p.m. next Wednesday at Eagle Knoll Golf Club in Hartsburg.
